I am pleased to share our 2023 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which reflects the important progress we have made on our commitment to responsible business practices and the pursuit of a more sustainable future. Sustainable Development Goals commitment

It is our collective responsibility to actively contribute to a sustainable and brighter future, benefiting our clients, employees, communities, and shareholders. Three years ago, we made a pivotal move by aligning our sustainability strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing our efforts on five specific SDGs that resonated with our core values and mission.

These SDGs include those addressing good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, and climate action. While we acknowledge the collective importance of all 17 SDGs in the pursuit of a better world by 2030, we have prioritized these specific areas to influence the unique strengths of our business and deliver maximum impact to our clients, people, and shareholders. This report will highlight our momentum to build a more sustainable and equitable society.

Environmental, social, and governance oversight

We maintain rigorous governance standards that encompass our approach to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges and opportunities. Huron’s board of directors maintains oversight of the firm’s ESG initiatives through dedicated committees. Board members are updated on board-related ESG matters, including climate-related issues, twice a year or more frequently as needed. You can find additional details about each committee’s responsibilities in our 2023 Proxy Statement.

The Nominating & Corporate Governance (Committee) oversees Huron’s ESG initiatives, activities, and practices, including corporate social responsibility and sustainability. This Committee regularly receives reports from management, providing updates on essential ESG matters, such as our sustainability services for clients, our responsible corporate actions, our progress in fulfilling ESG commitments, and our integrated reporting, emphasizing transparency and accountability in tracking our goals and progress.

Our leadership team works closely with the board and the Enterprise & Risk Management (ERM) Committee to integrate ESG principles across our operations. Our leadership regularly consults with the ERM Committee, along with other key stakeholders, to address ESG risks and oversee our global sustainability priorities. We discuss these priorities with our employees in quarterly meetings, providing updates on our ESG journey and our contributions to societal and environmental goals. Since 2021, ESG achievements have influenced annual incentive awards for our executive leaders.

The ERM Committee, composed of executive leaders and key officers, guides our management of ESG-related risks. The ERM Committee uses a comprehensive approach to anticipate, identify, prioritize, and manage material risks to our strategic objectives and oversees business, operational and financial risks, including those related to operational continuity, human resources, data security, and IT integrity. The ERM Committee, the executive leadership team, and a cross-functional ESG team collaborate on implementing ESG programs and initiatives in support of the enterprise strategy and to fulfill the ESG objectives supported by the N&CG Committee.

Stakeholder engagement

At Huron, we actively seek input and feedback from our stakeholders on ESG topics unique to our business and that matter most to them. We have included additional details about our 2022 comprehensive assessment of our ESG priorities in the appendix of this report.
